PLA's Mission Statement
We are an NGO that promotes and protects the rights of vulnerable and marginalized through community empowerment, action oriented research, policy dialogue, and legal aid in Uganda.

Target Groups for the PLA's Mission
Main Target group
PLA’s target groups are vulnerable, marginalized and undocumented workers majority of whom are, women, youth and children in the informal work sector, such as:

  • Exploited children.
  • Children at risk of exploitation.
  • People infected and affected by HIV-AIDS and severe chronic illness.
  • Women.
  • Youth.
  • Law income earners (below 150,000 Uganda Shillings per month).
  • Other defined vulnerable and marginalized groups.

PLA's Strategic Goals

    • Empowering communities where the targeted groups live, in order to provide grassroots protection and assistance to their members and in order to achieve multiplier effect on the society.
    • Establish partnerships and cooperation with worker's organizations, in order to ensure effective implementation of their mandate.
    • Protecting rights of individuals from the target groups and assisting them to realize their full potential in the society.
    • Monitoring the development and implementation of existing policies, regulation actions and reforms. Making recommendations in relation to existing and potential gaps and problems in them.
    • Enhancing the capacity of PLA and its stakeholders in order to effectively respond to the needs of the target beneficiaries.
